Construction of RottaNova is progressing steadily. Before the summer holidays, the basement floor at level -2 was fully poured and the strut tubes and walings were carefully removed. That laid an important base for the next phase.
Basement walls begin
On Monday 11 August, work on the basement walls officially started. The coming weeks are all about these impressive structures. Last Friday, 22 August, a new milestone was reached: the first section of the basement walls was successfully poured.
At more than 5 metres high, the walls are poured in one go. It is precision work that brings craftsmanship and teamwork together. Once all the basement walls are ready, we can take the next step: laying the basement floor at level -1, between the walls.
Linking past and future
Earlier this year, a special find was made during the archaeological phase: the medieval lock wall of the Zevenhuizersluis. This wall has been carefully taken apart and will later be given a place in the public space around RottaNova. That way, the history of this place stays connected to the future rising here.
Step by step upwards
With these developments, RottaNova is taking more and more shape. Where work used to be mainly underground, the base for building up the towers is now becoming visible. In mid-September another important step follows, with the pouring of the basement floor at level -1. We hope to tell you more then!
